Python Hack at UCL Tackles Living Planet Index

Recently, Dr. Robin Freeman (Institute of Zoology, founder of the Conservation Hackathon) worked with Rachel Lane (UCL, Institute of Zoology) and the UCL department of Computer Sciences, to provide Living Planet Index (LPI) data for a Python hackathon, as part of a Python teaching week at UCL. The data was offered as one of many projects run during the hackathon, and several teams tackled the dataset with different approaches to to mapping and analysing the data. Developing these tools within Python has added value for the team at IoZ, enabling future online indices from their global datasets.

The team are keen to engage with other events around these data – get in touch if you’re interested!
